How to Download Instagram Videos on Android and PC

Whether you're on an Android phone, a Windows laptop or a Mac, saving a public Instagram video takes the same three steps in your browser. Paste a link below to try it.

Download an Instagram video step by step

  1. 01Android: in the Instagram app tap Share → Copy link. PC or Mac: open the post on instagram.com and copy the address bar.
  2. 02Paste the link into the box above and press Download. The video loads in the preview frame so you can check it.
  3. 03Press Save video. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all download it like any other file.
  4. 04Open your Downloads folder — or the Files / Gallery app on Android — to find the video.

On Android

Chrome shows a download bar at the bottom of the screen when the file is ready; tap Open to play it. The video is saved in the Download folder and usually shows up in Google Photos or your Gallery app within a few seconds. Samsung Internet and Firefox work the same way.

On Windows and Mac

On a computer the file goes to your Downloads folder by default. If your browser opens the video in a new tab instead of saving it, right-click the video and choose Save video as. The file is a standard MP4 that plays in VLC, QuickTime, the Windows Photos app and every major video editor.

Why can't I download an Instagram video?

The most common reasons: the account is private, the post was deleted or archived, or the link is to a profile or story rather than a post. Copy the link again from the post itself. If it opens in a private browser window and still fails, the download service may be briefly busy — wait a minute and retry.
